Online social network sites, whether they are networks like Facebook or Twitter, or
social news sites like Digg, offer a myriad of opportunities to meet and greet people
all around the world, instead of just your little corner of it.

In order to network successfully, you have to adopt a strategy that is going to get
you noticed. You have to be consistent in posting and keeping up with people
who comment, fan, befriend, or follow you online.

When you are first starting up, it is going to take sometime to promote yourself
online, but once you start getting the hang of it, it becomes easier and easier.

When we market, the goal is to get action and by action I mean we want our marketing to result in a sale. The sale is the end result of every marketing process. Every business or marketer wants to know the answer to the question: How can we make a customer buy?

So let us see how !

1. Obtaining a sale is a process. It is a psychological process. There are, and have been in the past, very good products on the market that have not been sold well. Even a good product needs a good marketing strategy. Now do some role-playing with these following scenarios. Put your products up front, and imagine yourself in the role as an indifferent Vendor. Act as if You are a Marketer who is paid by the hour, regardless of the sales that you generate. Set your goal for the day and see if you achieve it.

In the next situation, act as the aggressive Marketer on commission, take your worst product, possibly a product that you consider as Unsaleable product , and sell it with all your selling enthusiasm. Evaluate whether you could make a customer buy more of the Unsaleable product by the aggressive Marketer, or whether you sold more as the indifferent Marketer.

What I have demonstrated here is that selling is not entirely about your product. You need to realise that your product wont sell on its own, regardless of how good it is. Before you can make a customer buy, you have to sell yourself first. You need to build the trust of your customer from the very first moment, and if you do not, you are going to have trouble selling your product.

2. Impulsive buying is not the method that all buyers use to purchase items. A customer looking at your product may be an impulsive buyer, but most buyers like to feel they can trust the seller. When writing your sales letter you need to keep this in mind and have a marketing plan for futher contact. Customers do not like to feel forced to make a purchase.

3. Attracting customers to your product or service is one thing, but you need to keep them interested in what you are offering. The wording of your sales page is very important if you want to make a customer buy. Customers know when they are getting ‘the hard sell’, so it is your job to keep them interested, convince them that purchasing your product is going to benefit them, and then close the deal.

4. Just calling a customer to action is not enough. The customer needs to be guided to the sale, be made aware of the fact that there will be a sale at the end, but they need to know that they will benefit from the purchase. Lead them to the ultimate decision – the sale! That is what a Marketer should do – Make the customer buy.

Now make sure you take note of those techniques above if you want to have more customer interesting in your products or services.

When a person is new to operating a business on the internet, they usualy think that it is just like retail selling. You show a product and if the person likes it, they will buy. This is totaly wrong. Now If you make a sale first up, then good on you, but if you can get their email address and start to build customer loyalty, you will profit more in the long run.

Your customers need to be assured that when they deal with you they are going to get the ‘real deal’. Because of the fact that people can hide behind a computer screen, potential customers like to feel safe first. So try to build trust.

Let me give you an example: when you look at your own situation and think about your product use, you will see that at times you are prepared to buy cheaper, but at other times you will pay more to have the brand you always use. So in buying the brand that you always use that company has built customer loyalty by always producing a product to the quality that you require.

Internet selling requires the trust first, then the sale, whereas from a shop there is the sale first, then the trust is built from the product. Why is this? It comes down to a ‘touch and feel’ thing in the shop, where the buyer can touch, feel and see the product first hand before parting with their money. So, with the internet, the marketer has to build customer loyalty with free products (reports and the like), newsletters, emails, advice, and so on, before the customer will have the confidence to buy.

If people have bought from you, honor any guarantees you give, and work on the principle of ‘under promise and over deliver’.

Customer service in the internet world is as important, if not more than in the real world. It takes quite some time for a sceptical client to be satisfied. If you have any queries or complaints, make sure you go out of your way to fix the problem.

One problem with internet communication is that people tend to be quick. Try and keep all communications chatty, to the point, but short. People use the internet to be quick, but often a quick reply will come across as the sender being annoyed. Build customer loyalty and you can’t go wrong. It will take time, but it will be worth it in the end. As you get known, you will be amazed how your customer numbers will multiply.
